Today I was speaking with a dear, dear, but dreadfully ostentatious acquaintance of mine, and she was speaking of how she aspired to be a clothing designer, and considered fashion an art all on itself.

I, personally, find this very silly. Clothes are meant to be worn, and nothing more. They are not an expression. My closet contains several pairs of white socks, black jeans, and grey shirts. I hardly think one needs any more than that.

Pray, what are your thoughts on this, fellow writers? Not like I am interesting or anything, but I would like to know.

Despite the color, I find black jeans far too interesting, as the standard everywhere is blue jeans. Although it is an unfortunate use of pigmentation, it does help one to have an outfit that does not stand out in any way. After all, too many dark colors and the average passerby will think you are making a statement, shocking as that may seem.

Ah, you are quite right. And here I was believing I was living monotony to its fullest by having a wardrobe that was explicitly monochrome. I realize now that I was quite mistaken.

I, too, make a statement of agreement. Any further comment would add something interesting, and possibly start a discussion, or worse, a debate. We certainly can not have that.
